What is Cold-Brew Coffee?

Cold-brew is as simple as mixing coarse ground coffee with water and steeping it overnight in the refrigerator. If you have our convenient gourmet coffee packets, it’s even easier!! The next day, you strong out the grounds, leaving you with a strong coffee concentrate (trust us, you’ll want to dilute it!) that can be served right away and stored for up to two weeks.

Cold-brew coffee tastes incredible due to the cold steeping process. It is smooth and mellow with very little acidity or bitterness. But with regular coffee, you miss out on the extra antioxidants that are the secret to Mr. Coffee Concierge’s best cups of coffee.

Why Should You Cold-Brew Your Coffee?

The cold-brew method is perfect because:

  • The slow overnight infusion pulls all the amazing coffee flavor from the beans.

  • It leaves behind most of the compounds that make coffee sour or bitter.

  • Cold-brewed coffee is smooth and sweet, perfect for iced coffee!

You can also adjust the concentration of your cold brew coffee, making it stronger or less strong to suit your coffee preferences.

The cold brew method can save you time in the morning. Make a big batch over the weekend and keep it in the fridge for your cold brew fix all week long!

Big Batch ‘Cold Brew’ Recipe

Ingredients:

6 oz. (170 mL) – Rich and flavorful
8 oz. (225 mL) – Smooth and creamy
10 oz. (285 mL) – Light and flavorful

Equipment:

  • Spoon

  • 2 jars or pitchers with lids (3-quart)

  • Milk or creamer to taste

Instructions

  1. Empty 3-6 sachets into your jars or pitchers, fill with hot water, stir, and place in your fridge to chill for about 20-30 minutes.

  1.  Add ice to an empty glass and pour coffee on top.

  1. Add milk and sweetener to taste, for a cool gourmet coffee treat.

Enjoy!

In case you want to try to cold brew regular coffee, you’ll need a grinder and cheesecloth to do the drink justice. Here’s what you’ll do:

  1. Combine your ground coffee and water in a pitcher or jar.

  1. Stir until well blended. The coffee grounds will float to the top as it sits, that’s ok. Just make sure that the coffee is wet.

  1. Cover and steep in the fridge for at least 12-15 hours.

  1. Use cheesecloth to line a fine mesh strainer and secure with a rubber band. Put over a large measuring cup.

  1. Slowly pour the coffee concentrate through the cheesecloth/strainer. You may need to strain in batches. Do not squeeze or press the coffee in the cheesecloth.

  1. Once strained, transfer the coffee concentrate to a clean airtight jar for storage.

  1. Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

Note: Undiluted cold brew coffee will last for 2 weeks in the refrigerator. Diluted cold brew will last for 2-3 days in the refrigerator.

Adjusting coffee strength: The above recipe makes a strong cold brew concentrate. To make it less strong (or stronger, if that's what you like!), adjust the amount of coffee beans to suit your coffee preferences. Trust us, Organo gourmet coffee is way easier to get your cold brew on! And you can adjust the taste as noted above.
